Presentation and Role
Established in 1870, the Chamber has a long and proud tradition of serving businesses in their best interest.
Lebanese Chambers of Commerce were founded by special governmental decree No. 36 of 1967, which regulated their activities representing the Commercial sector, followed by the Industrial and the Agricultural sectors.
The Tripoli Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture is a not-for-profit public utility organization, specialized in supporting trade, industry, agriculture and services. It is entitled to ownership, sale, acquisition, mortgage, acceptance of donations and contributions, loan acquirement, litigation, and other similar tasks.

CCIAT currently provides services to 17,000 member companies, of which 7,000 have a permanent status. Commercial, Industrial as well as Agricultural enterprises in the cities of Tripoli, Akkar, Batroun, Koura, Zgharta and the regions surrounding them can benefit from the services offered by the Chamber. Chamber staff consists currently of 40 employees, a number of contractual consultants and a pool of professionals.
The Chamber’s location, in the heart of the capital of the North, surrounded by public offices and major businesses on one of the most vibrant city streets, is an added advantage and a solid foundation for its interacting with the business world and realizing its projects.
Since 1999, the Chamber has modernized its network of activities, acquired the ISO 9001:2000 for quality management system applications and expanded from 1500 sq m to 5400 sq m of office space and another 8000 sq m of underground industrial space and parking. A further 9600 sq m will constitute the second phase of the new building project.
Vision and Objectives
- Rebuild the human and structural capabilities of SME's and modernize their activities and ability to perform their functions more effectively.
- Serve as a special platform to address the concerns of the business community and to put across to the government the business views of the private sector.
- Cooperate closely with local public offices and municipalities for capacity building and development.
- Develop relationships and work closely with local, regional and International organizations to produce and fund projects and programs.
- Network between local, national and international businesses.
- Assist in the creation of innovative and new businesses that help reduce unemployment.
