A group of enthusiastic
entrepreneurs, embarked a decade ago, on a major endeavor to re-engineer the
Chamber towards playing a major role in modernizing the local economy and
developing strong ties with the international community.
During that period and, despite
limited resources, but with hard work and serious planning, analysis of
environment, assessment of capabilities and transparency in our action plans,
CCIAT managed to expand its facilities from 2,000 to 20,000 square meters
portrayed in a contemporary building to host multiple development projects.
Our goal is to support local
businesses and start-ups in preparation for the imminent challenges they will
face with globalization, and integration within the WTO, the EU Lebanese
Partnership Agreement, the EU Neighborhood Policy and the bilateral trade
agreements.
We are fully aware that the
business world today requires significant qualitative shifts in methods,
approaches, skills, knowledge and transparency.
But our main concerns remain to
improve
(1) Quality
(2) Services
(3) Effectiveness
(4) Productivity
(5) Business capabilities
As foreseen, the Chamber has successfully accomplished a
number of projects that provide complementary services, thus diversifying its
traditional activities within programs such as:
- The Business Development Center
(BIAT)
- The
Agriculture Development Program (ADP)
- The
Agro-Industry Sustainable Action in Lebanon (ASAIL)
- The Post-Harvest Training Center
(CEDARS)
- The
Geographic Information System for data collection and analysis
- Bar-coding
and traceability
- IT and
Vocational Training.
- Arbitration
and Conciliation
- And
the Mutual Fund for all members of the Lebanese Chambers of Commerce
Industry & Agriculture, with whom our joint resources have enabled us
to progress with the new facility.
